Patches Tapia

Patches-2b-w-borders,-shifted

Patches was born on May 24, 2001, six weeks later I adopted her along with 2 of her 8 littermates.  Patches had a strong spirit and was often referred to as “The Queen” by my family.  Patches was diagnosed with feline diabetes in August 2012. After this she really became the center of my home, with everything revolving around Patches schedule of exact meal times, ear-sticks to check her glucose and insulin injections.  I even switched to sugar-free ice cream because just the sound of the freezer door brought her running to share a bowl.  I often said that all that sugar in her blood made her sweeter because she had never been a very affection cat before but she became a real cuddle-bug after she became ill. I didn’t mind a bit! I had thirteen wonderful years with her and will always miss my ‘sugarbaby’.                                                                                                    ~ Dorian Tapia, October 2014
